March 22, 2019 Dear Parents, Welcome to the 2nd issue of “Windows” in an e-format, for school year 2018-2019. It is one of the ways which we do to help protect our world for the children. The school’s newsletter will show the different activities that transpired throughout the year and the charities touched by the generosity of the school’s families. The works of the children, showing their overall development throughout the year, will likewise be presented in this newsletter. Empathy cannot be taught merely through words but has a greater impact with the deeds that we do for others. These was clearly seen not only amongst the adults but more so with the children in their performances in the Literary program, Father’s Day, Outreach with the Sacred Heart children, and their I-Care activity. The children’s empathy was shown in their willingness to coach a partner on stage and picking up a scarf, or instrument for another child with no prompting from teacher. The Kinder children reading a storybook with their Nursery partner, a Pre-kinder boy accompanying a Nursery boy back to his room and coaxing him that they will play again later. Being a witness to the kindness shown by the children on stage, in the playground ,and in their rooms, makes one very hopeful for the future. Let us not stop therefore in nurturing not only the cognitive aspect of our child but their emotional and social aspects as well. Summer is coming soon so let us balance our children’s recreation time by making them do little chores on their own. Let your child accompany you when you visit your elderly relatives. This teaches them empathy when they see us adults doing it. When you are in the kitchen, cooking or baking, let them help you; it’s a Math and Science lesson combined with helping Mom in the kitchen. Simple and ordinary things are enough for your little ones to learn the important things in life, which is love for others is shown with deeds. We would like to wish you all a happy and meaningful vacation with your families. See you all again when classes start in July or maybe in our summer program! Truly yours, MARIA CARMEN R.
