The Warden’s Stables In addition to the objects on permanent display in Treasury, the College’s collections also include watercolours and drawings, historic books and archives. Dating from the 1390s, the building was used as a stables until the early 20th century WARDEN’S STABLES EXTERIOR, 1391-1401 T he Warden’s Stables are among the original medieval buildings of Winchester College. Construction began in 1391 and was completed a decade later. It is one of the finest surviving medieval stables in England and the timber crown-post roof is of particular importance. The Stables were used to keep horses until the early 20th century and then served as a games room for pupils and a bicycle store.
