BASE BUILDING IN WORKING CLASS, BLACK &
BROWN COMMUNITIES
WIN organizers spent the beginning of last year engaged in a series of relational meetings and
house meetings to deepen our base east of the river, in immigrant and Muslim communities, and
working class communities. At the July 2017 action, 2 new African American ward 7 congregations
joined and made dues commitments (Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church and Edgewood Baptist Church)
and there were multiple prospective member institutions. From these meetings new teams such
as around immigrant rights have organized and we have have begun organizing around issues
important to ward 7 residents.
