Yayasan Bumi Sehat translates as Healthy Mother Earth Foundation. Founded in 1995 as an Indonesian not-for-profit organisation, Bumi Sehat has since expanded and is now registered in the United States as an International Foundation.
Bumi Sehat operates two Community Health Education and Childbirth centres - one in Bali and another in post-tsunami Aceh, Indonesia. The clinics offer a blend of allopathic and holistic medicine, which effectively reduces suffering. Their mission to ensure a gentle birth for mother and baby lies at the heart of their healthcare practice. They believe that each baby’s capacity to love and trust is built at birth and in the first two hours of life. Bumi Sehat is devoted to protecting pregnancy, birth, postpartum and breastfeeding. Thereby advocating for optimal humanity, health, intelligence and consciousness.
Last year alone, the recorded human service provided by Bumi Sehat totalled more than 50,000! I was lucky enough to be one of them. At the time of writing, Bumi is providing much needed disaster relief amongst the Nepalese communities that have been affected by the earthquakes. Despite the tragedies that have occurred, many women are safely and gently birthing their babies into the world with the loving help of Bumi Sehat.
