For many students, September means football games, spending time with friends, band practice, pep rallies, and countless other activities. But September has another meaning for families and caregivers of children with cancer. September is childhood cancer awareness month.
Palestine Junior High School (PJHS) students recently showed their support for childhood cancer awareness. Students helped raise almost $500 in two days for the Jaquelyn Sky Foundation through t-shirt sales. PJHS students also wore gold cancer ribbons and gold pawprints during the pep rally on September 29 to show their support of childhood cancer awareness and the Jaquelyn Sky Foundation.
The Jaquelyn Sky Foundation has a very special meaning for two PJHS seventh graders, Jordyn and Jonathon Jenkins. Their sister, Jaquelyn, lost her battle with cancer three years ago. Jordyn cheers for PJHS and gave a heartfelt speech to the entire student body during the campus pep rally. Other students and staff members also endured a “pie in the face” to show their support for this worthy cause.
