our Money Your Goals was a joint program hosted by the Wildcat and Southwind Extension Districts. We had 25 register for the program and 21 attend. This program is geared towards professionals that work directly with people that have low-income or are economically vulnerable. Attendees from a number of non-profit and community-based programs learned how to use the Your Money Your Goals: a financial empowerment toolkit.

This toolkit was developed by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, CFPB. It has a vision to Empower, Enforce and Educate and to make financial products and services that work for Americans. Broken down, they empower by creating tools, answering common questions, and provide tips that help consumer navigate their financial choices and shop for the deal that works best for them. CFPB takes action against predatory practice and companies that violate the law and have already returned billions of dollars to harmed consumers. Lastly, they educate by encouraging financial education and capability from childhood through retirement, publish research and educate financial companies about their responsibilities.

Our participants had hands-on activities that worked them through the toolkit and experienced a variety of ways to assist individuals on their needs. The toolkit addresses how attitudes and beliefs drive behavior, how to work a cash flow budget, how to deal with debt, connect to a number of resources and much more. By the end of the training all participants agreed or strongly agreed that the training was effective and it will improve their ability to meet the needs of the people they serve.
