A FEW CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS:

I was able to participate in the meeting of the National Dining with Diabetes Working Group and become aware of the latest updates to our programming in that area.

In San Antonio, we were immersed in various pieces of the multifaceted Healthy South Texas initiative and gained some great ideas which we brought back and have already begun incorporating into our KSRE Culture of Health Grant Application for Wildcat District.

I spent an afternoon at the San Antonio Food Bank. We saw how they capitalize on volunteer base and utilize networking to produce benefits for the community, and how they offer opportunities to their clients to improve personal skills that can promote employability.

VEGucate Yourself: The Who, What, When, Where, & Why of Vegetarian Diets”. I believe there is lots of interest in vegetarian diets as well as lots of confusion about how to follow them appropriately. Watch for this program in our District next spring.
