ctober 1 marked the start of the new 4-H year. This is an exciting time for youth to decide what projects they would like to do this year as well as new members to join. October is also the month for Nation 4-H week. For this 4-H was represented at the Pittsburg Farmers Market Kids Day. Clubs also participated in a variety of activates such as parades, creating window displays, and hanging up flyers to promote all of the wonderful opportunities 4-H has to offer.

Rockets were flying this month! In collaboration with Block 22 and Pittsburg Community in Schools, I provided a rocketry program for over 30 middle/high school students in Pittsburg. This was a great partnership where youth had the opportunity to learn and have fun doing it. The youth who participated worked in groups to make their rockets. This helped to the use a variety of skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem solving. The process of making launching the rockets also provided an educational component learning about measurement, angles, and aerodynamics. This was a great opportunity to educate the youth on participation in the rocketry project through 4-H.

Making connections was also a theme this month. Crawford County 4-H was represented at the Pittsburg Farmers market spreading the word on all the great opportunities in 4-H. Annual

Conference was all about making connections and learning

from other professionals across the state. This was a great

time to learn and be inspired of new and creative ways to

expand 4-H.
