s a team agent, helping our fellow co-workers and working on projects together that can provide us with a united front is important. It helps us provide elevated education and support for each other along with our knowledge shared within our district. This month I helped:

• Will with STEM Camp at the Fab Lab at ICC.

• Participated at a Health Expo in Parsons with SHIFT representatives, Tara and Michelle.

• Barbara and I did another Eating Healthy on a Budget in Pittsburg.

• Tara, Barbara and I represented Extension and SHIFT at Bartlett Customer Appreciation Day.

• I filled in at the after school program as well at Meadow View.

A highlight for this month would be doing a National Webinar for ESP on Adobe Spark videos and Pages with Erin Yelland. Fifty-eight ESP members from across the United States signed in to learn more about these professional tools to educate our communities and beyond.

Feedback proved that learning about Adobe Spark was 22 percent extremely effective, 55 percent very effective and 44 percent moderately effective. Spark videos are simple to use and an easy way for anyone to share information in a professional manner.

Spring is here and that means weather that is unpredictable. Do you have your emergency kit prepared and ready to go? Here is a list of recommended items from FEMA:

• Water: one gallon of water per person per day for at least three days, for drinking and sanitation.

• Food: at least a three-day supply of non-perishable food.

• Battery-powered or hand crank radio and a NOAA Weather Radio with extra batteries for both.

• Flashlight and extra batteries.

• Whistle to signal for help.

• Dust mask to help filter contaminated air and plastic sheeting and duct tape to shelter-in-place.

• Moist towelettes, garbage bags and plastic ties for personal sanitation.

• Wrench or pliers to turn off utilities.

• Can opener for food (if kit contains canned food)

• Local maps.

For more information and items to include in your kit go to ready.gov – under the plan ahead tab and the other tabs are many resources to make sure you have a plan in place and are ready for any disaster that may strike. Another important item is a grab and go bag. K-State Research and extension has a publication to help you plan ahead. It’s called, Get Financially Prepared: Take Steps ahead of Disaster.
