Florence Blaes started her 4-H volunteer work in 1967. She started out as a project leader and then became a club leader for Happy Hustler’s 4-H Club. As a project leader, Florence helped in clothing and foods departments for 52 years. She also conducted the Montgomery County Spring Break Sewing Camp for many years. Florence was a fair superintendent for style revue. Her hard work on the style revue has established the event as the traditional kick-off to the Montgomery County Fair! Florence’s countless hours planning decorations, writing skits, and organizing youth behind the scenes made the event run smoothly. Florence also helps at the Cherryvale Youth and the Interstate Fair.

Florence has seen first-hand the positive impact 4-H can have on youth. She is dedicated to continuing to teach life skills to any youth. We don’t think Florence will ever truly be able to retire from her 4-H work. We appreciate everything she has done and continues to do as we work together to “Make the Best Better”.
