WALK KANSAS: Sign up today!

K-State Research and Extension, Wildcat District invites you to get your walking shoes ready – it is time for Walk Kansas! This eight-week health initiative runs from March 18 through May 12. Walk Kansas is a team-based program that will inspire you to lead a healthier life by being more active, making better nutrition choices, and learning positive ways to deal with stress.

The Walk Kansas Process

The process is simple: join a team, select a challenge, and register. The captain of your team will initiate this process and register your team online at www.walkkansasonline.org. If you prefer to register with a paper form, you may contact the Wildcat District. If you do not have a team, no problem, you may register as an individual and will be connected with a team!

A variety of activities count toward Walk Kansas goals. Anything you do for 10 consecutive minutes or more, at a moderate or vigorous intensity, can count. Strengthening exercises also count and this year’s focus is to increase our flexibility!

During the 8 weeks, you will log and report minutes of physical activity and the amount of fruits and vegetables you eat. This can be one of the most important tools for making lifestyle changes. Recording progress keeps you focused on your goals. Walk Kansas participants tell us that reporting each week is a powerful motivator because they know their team is depending on each person do their part.
