ay has been a month of transition for the SNAP-Ed and EFNEP programs in the Wildcat Extension District. Katrina Even RD, LD, CBE started her new role as Martha Murphy’s replacement overseeing the SNAP-Ed and EFNEP programs throughout the district. School programming has wrapped up and additional staff has been hired as everyone began preparing for the summer.

The Wildcat District SNAP-Ed program is looking forward to a full and fun summer with 31 sessions of Kids Can Cook scheduled over nine weeks. Kids Can Cook is an incredibly popular hands-on “cooking camp” teaching third through sixth grade youth basic kitchen skills while highlighting the importance of nutrition and food safety. All nutrition assistants will help facilitating the camps along with three summer nutrition assistants: Amy Gideon, Maria Jose Marin Olvera and Lee Stroble.

In addition to a full schedule of Kids Can Cook classes, nutrition assistants continue offering EFNEP programming at M&I (Maternal and Infant) clinics and community centers as well as maintaining a presence at local food banks and other community events.
