s the year comes to an end, it is important to reflect on all the meaningful connections we made with colleagues, friends and the community around us. As we continue our programming efforts, thanks to all those who supported our extension unit this past year.

The month of December has brought many opportunities to provide programs and networking opportunities. I was able to be an FFA speech contest judge for a Neodesha invitational contest. This was a great opportunity that allowed several students in the district prepare for the area contest. I was glad to be part of that contest and always impressed by the talent of the youth in our area.

Also this month, I assisted with a couple meetings that were sponsored and promoted by our district. I assisted with our annual Agronomy Night held in Independence. There was great producer turn out and the support of sponsors was tremendous.

I also helped with the promotion of the Montgomery County Action Council’s Poultry Grower Meeting held in Coffeyville. This meeting was simply informational and hoped to address many of the questions producers were having in regards to the potential Tyson's plant coming to the area.

I have also been a part of a couple different networking opportunities. I met with agents from the surrounding areas outside of our district and discussed new ideas on how to provide quality agricultural programming to schools. I gained many new lessons from this meeting and plan to implement them in our local schools. In addition, I also participated in the Middle Neosho WRAPS (Watershed Restoration and Protection Strategy) meeting which focuses on our area’s watershed district. This was a great networking event as it involves several agriculture based organizations.

The holiday season has been full of joy and fellowship and hopefully this sense of comradery continues into next year. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
