- On January 4, I attended the Calving Management School put together by Keith Martin and Dale Helwig. Keith began the meeting by presenting about the early life of a calf and the importance of colostrum. Keith did an excellent job and his presentation was a great segue to Dr. Tarpoff’s presentation. I had not had the opportunity to see A.J. Tarpoff, our new State Extension Veterinarian yet, but I was impressed with his presentation. A.J. replaced Larry Hollis, who was one of the best presenters I had ever witnessed as far as being relatable to producers so A.J. had big shoes to fill. I feel quite confident that K-State Research and Extension made an excellent hire in A.J. and look forward to seeing him in the future.
