4-H/Youth development

ovember has been a month with big changes as I got married and transferred to the Montgomery County office! Thank you for your support and words of encouragement as this transition occurred.

Before the transition, I attend Annual Conference in Manhattan. I enjoyed sessions over how to share information among big groups of people using K-State’s email system and shooting sports updates.

After conference, all 4-H agents hosted a district-wide officer training. Over 50 youth attended but the networking that happened over snacks between youth from different counties after the training was the biggest success, in my opinion. I also attended the annual Montgomery County Fair Board meeting to get acquainted with volunteers and how their fair operates.

Crawford County 4-H held their annual awards banquet November 9, 2017. We had great attendance and the Junior Leaders set a good example for the younger members as they ran the banquet. I appreciate their communication and leadership skills as we strive to recognize all 250 members in Crawford County 4-H.

Before leaving on vacation, I attended a Cub Scout meeting in Pittsburg. There was 40 youth present ranging in age from 2nd -6th grade. I presented a nature program, where we discussed how each insect plays a role in our daily lives and our environment. It was fun to work with these youth and learn about the similarities between 4-H and the Cub Scout program.
