have received a lot of response from my article and radio recordings on dry weather concerns. Particularly on nitrates and prussic acid. I have discussed potential problems with many producers by phone and some field visits. We have a field test for nitrates so that has generated some interest as well. Have also worked with a producer on ammoniation of hay and have submitted forage samples from that with good results.

I have been busy with the Labette County Fair livestock show as well. This year there are 136 different exhibitors in the premium sale. I am also officiating the livestock judging contests at Montgomery, Labette, and Crawford County Fairs. I hope to be able to recruit some more kids to our judging program.

Brian Anderson, Talia Leck, and I took 24 kids from Wildcat District and/or Caney FFA Chapter to the Big 3 Judging Contest on July 17 - 19. One of our Junior Teams placed 12th Overall out of over 70 teams. Our Senior 4-H Teams placed 3rd and 12th as well. The rules were changed where we had to judge with county teams vs. district teams. Therefore, a team of 4-H members that also happen to be members of LCHS FFA placed 6th in Swine and 22nd overall. There were over 100 teams in that division.

Jeri and I also helped with the booth at the 4-State Farm Show and were emcees at the hay demonstration.

Three of our senior members also went to K-State's livestock judging camp.

In addition to livestock judging, I spent time working on soil test reports. I also dedicated time to social and mass media as well as planning for upcoming events, including county fairs.
