The Prince’s Trust course was an
ideal place for me to be as it was
all about focusing on team work
and building self-esteem. I worked
my way through NC, HNC and
HND Art and Design. I put in the
effort and all the hard work has
paid off as I have received an A for
my graded unit.
One of my favourite projects
has been creating a mural for
the Lighthouse Foundation in
Kilmarnock, which is a support
group for families affected by
addiction issues. Working with
them was great, consulting with
them and interpreting what
they were looking at from an
artistic view.

Ayrshire College has made a big
difference to my life over the
last few years, the staff are so
encouraging, especially Student
Services. They are beyond amazing,
helping me through some difficult
times, nothing is too much trouble.
I’m much more confident now.
I’ve started driving lessons, have
got myself a summer job and I am
going on to the 3rd year of BA
(Hons) Digital Art at UWS.
In the future I’d like to become a
lecturer and teach art to kids like
myself. I want to pass on that it’s
really important to have a goal in
life, and no matter what is thrown
your way, keep focusing on the
goal.
