After studying several courses
at college I realised I wasn’t sure
what I wanted to do, so I left
to go travelling around Africa.
Volunteering at local nurseries
helped me appreciate education
and gave me the motivation I
needed to return to college and
make something of myself.
Studying to achieve my HNC
in Art and Design gave me
the chance to explore my own
creativity, experiment with ideas
and push myself for the best
results possible. The support
of my lecturer helped me grow,
both as a person and as an artist.
I took part in an interesting
project where I created an
animation on the politics around
meat production. I was heavily
influenced by Dalziel and
Scullion’s visual art videos and
focused greatly on the process
of cloning food.
I feel very proud to have won
the Enterprise and Innovation
Award, as in the past I didn’t
know if higher education was
for me. I have now achieved
something far greater than I
could have ever imagined. I
have continued my education at
Duncan of Jordanstone College
in Dundee and hope to specialise
in animation in the coming years.
