Who's That Man... Darrin--Flipbook-JMag | Page 6

FAther: I’ll give you a hard word that starts with E. Emoluments. It’s a big word for getting paid for doing something for someone, like when you mow lawns, Billy. President Trump is a very rich man because he has hotels that rich men from all over the world pay a lot to use. MOther: And rich women, too, Sean. FAther: Yes, dear. The rich men often bring their wives with them. Billy: So it’s like all of his big-deal friends are giving him money. That’s cool. FAther: Not exactly, Billy. The President is not allowed to take emoluments. People might try to use gifts and money to get him to do what they want, not what’s best for America. So he gave his businesses to his two sons to run. They can’t do favors because they’re not the President. Billy: If I was rich, I’d share all my money with you and Mommy. mother: SUZIE: That’s so sweet, Billy. I’m sure President Trump’s children feel the same way about him. I want to be a rich woman when I grow up. mother: Yes, dear, and you can be. Take care of yourself and keep yourself beautiful and you will meet the right man and you can be rich, too. That’s how our First Lady did it. 18 • Who’s That Man with Mr. Lincoln, Mommy?
