R.J. Matson is the editorial
cartoonist at Roll Call and
previously worked at the
St. Louis Post-Dispatch,
The New York Observ-
er, States News Service,
and The Washington
Monthly. His
cartoons and illustrations
have appeared in The
New Yorker, The Na-
tion, MAD Magazine, The
Daily News, The Wash-
ington Post, and many
other publications. Along
the way he won numer-
ous regional awards and
in 2007, he drew Time’s
Best Cartoon of the Year.
He received a B.A. from
Columbia University and
was a visiting student at
Pembroke College, Oxford
University.
