If shopping is your thing, you’ll find a wide
variety of independent and unique shops in
the old town. The Ankerside Shopping Centre,
overlooking the glorious Castle grounds, has
more than 60 high street names for you to
enjoy. There are also a number of retail parks
and large supermarkets. The bright lights of
Birmingham, with its huge choice of shops,
restaurants, bars and entertainment is just a 30
minute drive away.
For the children’s education there’s a choice of
schools nearby including Ashcroft Infants and
Nursery School, Flax Hill Junior Academy and
Landau Forte Academy QEMS for 11-16 year-
olds.
Travel
If you need to commute, Barley Fields makes
the ideal spot to set up home. Tamworth train
station is around a mile and a half away with
direct trains to London Euston and Birmingham
New Street. Excellent road links mean that you
can drive to Birmingham in around 30 minutes
too via the M6 or M42.
