PORTRAIT OF A CITY After being inspired by the people he met, new experiences he had, and photos he took while travelling, Shayne Woodsmith returned to Edmonton and started the popular website Faces of Edmonton. A hybrid between his own photo-journal and the popular website Humans of New York, Woodsmith showcases the city through the portraits and stories of its inhabitants. Now, taking the project one step further, he has released a beautiful photo documentary book that provides a glimpse into a year spent wandering the city streets, meeting locals, and hearing their stories. An official book launch will be held at The Mercury Room (10575-114 St.) on September 18 at 7 pm. facesofedmonton.com —L.S. 34 where.ca // SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2015 PHOTOS BY AARON PEDERSEN; PEDRO ESCOBAR; COURTESY GRAVITY POPE; SHAYNE WOODSMITH ALL ABOUT THE BASS One of the city’s most well loved independent retailers, gravitypope is celebrating its 25th anniversary this fall!
