international artists Yvette Beneke south africa Yvette was born in 1969 and grew up in Bloemfontein. She studied Architecture and after her studies moved to Cape Town where she started working as Architect in Training. Yvette worked in the profession for 10 years, renovating old houses and restoring them to their formy beauty. After her children were born she found the demands of the architectural and building industry too much and decided to take up her art again. She enrolled in art classes and quickly discovered her love for the palette knife. A slight obsession got hold of her and for about two years she only focused on mastering this technique. She only works in oils and her themes are all very feminine and etherial. “As a person I love all things in nature, especially flowers and the humble little birds. I have a little vegetable garden which is surrounded with my roses which I tend to as if precious little gems. These roses form the subjects of most of my paintings, together with my collection of pots that I have accumilated over the past 30 years. Some over a 100 years old.” Yvette currently resides with her family in Durbanville, the heart of the wine farms of the Western Cape, South Africa. “I am a very spiritual person, am a vegetarian and hope that my love for life and all things living show in my work and will touch a part of your soul and life as well.” Exhibitions 2015 Joint exhibition with Marie Theron, Grotto Beach 2016 Solo exhibition Saxonwold Arts Events Gallery 2017 Group exhibition at Beach Gallery, Melkbosstrand 2017 Joint exhibition at The Showroom Art Gallery, with Tony de Freitas, Pretoria. 2018 Solo exhibition, Johann van Heerden Art, Pretoria. 69
