Where ART Lives Magazine Volume 4 Number 2 | Page 98

Sienna DelConte March 2018 What is your first memory of creating art? My first memory of creating art was when I was in Pre-K and I had to draw my family on a blue piece of paper. It was not very good, but I remember how much the teacher seemed impressed that I drew in perspective. Do you have a favorite piece that you have created? What makes it special to you? My favorite piece of artwork is my first abstract painting, which resembled a Kandinsky. Before that, I had never painted an abstract work because I did not think I could. After creating that first painting, it is all I want to do now! Do you have a favorite artist you that you admire or that inspires you? I have never fallen in love with any specific artist in particular, but rather find inspiration for my artwork in everyday life. What do you listen to when you paint? I do not listen to any specific music, but I do enjoy having people in the room with me while I work. What tool in your studio could you not live without? I cannot live without my watercolors! It is my favorite medium, and I could paint with them all day long. Do you have a favorite subject matter? I do not have a favorite subject matter, but rather I like to paint abstract pictures and let my work evolve as I paint. What is your preferred medium? My preferred medium is watercolors. When trying watercolors for the first time, I really disliked this medium, as I did not like how difficult it was to control, and the sometimes messy nature of them. After more practice with them, I fell in love. The vibrant colors, the beautiful fluidity, and the elegant softness of the paints render them, in my opinion, the most magnificent of all media. siennaoliviadesigns.com 98
