Where ART Lives Magazine Volume 4 Number 2 | Page 105

In what town and state is your art studio located ? My art studio is located in Manhattan Beach , California .
What is your favorite thing about your studio ? What I love most about my art studio space is that it overlooks the Pacific Ocean . I feel the sea breezes throughout the day as I listen to the consistent sound of the waves breaking onto the shore . And , if I am not careful , I easily am mesmerized by the ever-changing values of blue in the sky and the water .
Would you describe your studio as messy or neat ? My studio is kept relatively neat because it is part of a larger living space on the third floor of our beach home .
I was fortunate enough to find a contractor who custom designed & constructed what I call a “ moveable art station ”. I can move it easily in any direction to adjust for the natural light or with whatever art process I am involved at the time . Having this ability to move the station is key depending on whether I am working with smaller or larger canvases .
What do you do to set the creative mood in your studio before you begin creating art ? Before I begin painting , I do deep breathing for about 20 minutes . I also do 30 minutes of various energy exercises I have learned as a part of a 5,000 year old ancient Chinese energy healing practice . Then I write goals for what I want to achieve with my paintings that day and how the energy will infuse my art to benefit others . I also play a wide variety of music , from classical to French pop .
