How often do you paint? How many hours a week?
On the average, I paint, or create about 4 hours or more a week. I also have a marketing and
design company that still takes up most of my time.
How do you know when a painting is finished?
That’s something I have tried to teach my students; to learn to stop when you don’t need to do
anything more to it!
I guess, I have a “feeling”, when that takes place. I know it’s just where I want it to be, and adding
another stroke would not make it better, just over done. But, to “feel” this, I usually sit the art on
the side, and walk by it for a few days, and even sometimes have friends critique it for me, which
is quite helpful, because I have a vain artist’s eye.
Do you have a favorite painting that you have collected by another artist?
I belong to a small artists group in our city of Rowlett, which has members from around our city
and also other cities, including Dallas. I give a purchase award to an artist at our two juried
shows, and have many other artist’s work around my home. I do admire very much the plein air
artist, Steve Miller, and have two beautiful pieces of his art in our home.
What is the most inspirational place you have visited to date?
Simple answer; Colorado. I was awed by the mountains when first visiting many years ago, and
it drove me to create many paintings of mountains, and streams, and more mountains.
Where would you take your dream vacation?
Having been to Florence recently, I would love to go there again, but maybe if someone else was
paying for it, a river cruise around Europe.
What brings you the most joy in your life?
There’s joy in having the freedom to choose what I will be doing each day, and enjoying the love
from my partner Jeff, and our many friends. I do have a wonderful life. I wish everyone could
enjoy what I have had the opportunity to enjoy. Material things do not bring happiness, and
making “things” a quest for happiness is just the wrong road to take. I think time and wisdom,
made me realize, the joys of life are right here today, this minute, not tomorrow, but right now.
