Marilyn Weisberg How often do you paint? How many hours a week? I try to paint every other day at least. When I do paint, I can go for hours. I lose track of the time, it just flies by when I’m in the zone. How would you like to be remembered? Interesting question. I would like to be remembered, first, as a loving daughter and wife, a good person, a good and loyal friend, warm and kind. Next, as someone who gave something of value back to the world through her two careers--one in healthcare and one in art; someone who kept striving, kept pursuing her goals, and using the talents she was so fortunate to have. How do you know when a painting is finished? There’s nothing left nagging at me about the painting. I’m at peace with it and hopefully happy. Proud of it. Do you have a favorite painting that you have collected by another artist? I have several paintings from my late cousin, Sam Meyerson. He was excellent with pen and ink drawings over watercolor. What is the most inspirational place you have visited to date? I would say Paris a few summers ago. I was totally inspired and couldn’t wait to get home and paint what I’d seen. Where would you take your dream vacation? Someplace pretty and warm, with water and sun, where I can swim and relax, and not worry about anything. Just be happy. Vacation is not as much a place as a feeling to me. What brings you the most joy in your life? My dear husband, my little dog Rocky, and the exhilarating moments when I’m painting something that excites me. If you could talk about art with a deceased master artist, who would it be? I think someone like Rembrandt, from the times when artists had to make their own paints. Definitely someone from another time and place. Tell us something that few people know about you. I sponsor a little girl in Ecuador through Children International. Her name is Emily and she’s 10 years old. We write back and forth in Spanish. marilynscanvas.com 106
