Karen Sako July 2017 What is your first memory of creating art? I was creating a paper teepee around Thanksgiving in kindergarten and was decorating it with lots of symbols and colors. My creativity was ignited. When I brought it home my Mom pulled out the same project my sister completed three years prior. I immediately bust out crying because her teepee was so unimaginative. That is when I first realized I loved art. I began drawing on everything within my reach and refused to do any activities because I just wanted to stay home and draw. Do you have a favorite piece that you have created? What makes it special to you? My favorite painting is my first oil painting. I was instructed to copy a master’s work so I painted a copy of Frank Frazetta’s Death Dealer. I was reading the book as I painted it and just fell in love with his work. It is hanging ove
