How often do you paint? How many hours a week?
I have been painting every day for 9 years. The only time I am not painting is when I’m on an
airplane (they have these funny rules about painting on planes). I paint about 4 hours per day,
longer on weekends.
How would you like to be remembered?
I’d like to be remembered as an art teacher who helped someone get over their fear of failure,
and find their love of painting again.
How do you know when a painting is finished?
Ha! There’s the rub! As soon as that question occurs to you, it’s time to put the brush down. You
can always add more later. However, if you keep going, it’s hard to unsweeten a glass of iced tea,
when there’s too much sugar.
Do you have a favorite painting that you have collected by another artist?
I have one of the amazing Ann Hardy’s geranium paintings hanging in my studio!
What is the most inspirational place you have visited to date?
St. Cirq LaPopie in Southern France. There are no words to describe, though it is considered the
most beautiful village in the region.
Where would you take your dream vacation?
Somewhere warm with a beach. Sigh.
Tell us something that few people know about you.
I love disaster movies - because they are always about how people come together in the worst
circumstances to show their best natures.
Any other thoughts to share?
Navigating a journey of color and discovery, being an artist is a rare and unique gift. Imagine
what the world would be like if everyone were an artist. What a beautiful, colorful place this
would be.
