Pascal Marlin
France
Using a collage technique which was, originally, used to
stimulate his creative inventions, Pascal Marlin employs in his art
everything he comes across - pieces of fabric, tracing paper, even
sewing patterns - then cuts, composes, mixes, colors, and pieces
it together, cleverly placing it all in locations that create shadows.
His self-described “misshapen monsters” are then painted in oil
or acrylic on canvas. The artist layers mixed media and paint, the
different textures clearly visible when one moves side to side and
views the reflections of light and paint.
He calls these “ruthless and serious” characters part of his
unusual universe, sometimes frightening, however nuanced by a
light color palette and refined softness.
