EXPOSED Priska Wettstein She now lives in beautiful Yukon, the mother of an was born in 1970 in Switzerland. the far North of Canada, the in Dawson City. She is married and 18 year old son. “My professional background is as a Visual Merchandiser, and I have worked in that field for over 20 years. I became interested in photography about 7 years ago. I received a digital camera as a gift and ever since then I have it with me whenever I can. My style then developed over the years and is completely self taught. One day I stumbled upon a photograph that had been edited with textures. I was fascinated with this technique and I still am. I want to take my photos a step further and transform them into what I call a photo-painting. Someone once said that I am a painter at heart. I like that, because this describes exactly what I want to create. Working on an image until I feel it is finished is something that happens intuitively. It is as if the photo would tell me what to do with it, it is never the other way around. The photo is my canvas and I begin to paint it with Photoshop. The process of my work brings me peace and is very essential to me to keep the perfect balance with my very busy life as a hotel owner. I find it very meditative, going for walks, taking pictures and working on my art. That feeling of serenity, calm and muted colours, can be found throughout my entire portfolio. I love simplicity, to give the subject space, reduce unneeded elements, and a minimalistic approach to my composition.” Photogra 24 pher Fo cus
