Sheri Trepina What is your preferred medium? Watercolour and rice paper collage. How often do you paint? How many hours a week? I average part time, 5 days per week. I want to paint more….working on giving the boot to a few things in the way. Do you have a favorite painting that you have collected by another artist? Yes, a portrait in oil of my son when he was young, by my good friend and Artist Becky Fulton. How would you like to be remembered? I’m not sure how important it is to be remembered generations from now, but if I made someone’s live better, happier, fuller during my time….now that would be a good thing. How do you know when a painting is finished? Usually tough for me, I wait and revisit the piece for several days or months. Sometimes I make adjustments, other times I agree to be happy with the piece. Where would you take your dream vacation? Having grown up in Hawaii, I have never been able to let go of an ocean view and a good snorkeling spot. What brings you the most joy in your life? My family and the roots we share, my friends that push me to my best and the opportunity I have to express myself in art, it truly is my passion. If you could talk about art with a deceased master artist, who would it be? Vincent van Gogh. Being so inspired by nature in my own art, his response to the landscape of his time has always held my eye. Tell us something that few people know about you. I don’t enjoy drawing. I can however, get lost sketching if I eliminate the goal of a finished piece of art. It can be very relaxing listening to the pencil scratch on the paper....all by myself. Any other thoughts to share? Art can enliven our daily lives, remind us of what is important and can create a reference to the world around us. Colour your life…with Art http://coloursbysheri.com 56
