Anton Zhou May 2015 When did you realize you loved art and wanted to be ‘an artist’? Art started off as more of an activity I enjoyed on a daily basis, but slowly evolved into something I’m accustomed to and have integrated as a big portion of my life. Both my father and I discovered an artistic sense within me at a young age, and soon my path towards becoming a professional artist began. The journey started off with simply crayons and other common art tools, and through the years I’ve incorporated a wide variety of mediums as my love for art grew. Who has been the greatest influence from your past to mentor you to this career? I appreciate everyone one of my friends and family members who have contributed to my success so far. Without their crucial support, I wouldn’t be at this point as a young artist. Although I’ve received great teaching from art instructors, I would still consider my father as the primitive source of influence who has guided me throughout my life in terms of how I develop myself as a growing artist and man. In addition, my school art teachers have been with me all along and continue to provide the best art programs for a high school student like me. Who is your mentor today, or another artist you admire and why? As of now, I can’t really single out a specific person who I attribute my best admiration to.
