Spinal/Head Injury Independent Living Services (SHIILS)

The SHIILS Program provides services that assist adults with Traumatic Brain &/or Spinal Cord Injuries to maintain or improve their independence in their home &/or community.

To be eligible for services, brain/spinal cord injuries must have resulted from an outside blow to the head and/or spinal cord, i.e. car accidents, falls, gunshot wounds, etc.

SHIIL Services may include Assistive Technology, Home/Vehicle Modifications, Rehab Therapies, Counseling, etc, &, are…

•Planned with an individual’s full participation in the decision-making process.

•Based on individual’s functional limitations & independence goals.

•Provided to improve an individual’s functional independence.

•Provided in the environment/situation that will result in the most positive outcome for the individual.

•Provided to empower individuals to make their own choices, which increases their involvement in meaningful activities.

•Not provided by any other community organization.
