Each month, we want to highlight a professional that works within the disability community, hear their story, and read about all the amazing things they provide individuals within the community.

This month, we are highlighting Elizabeth Moreno with Barrow Neurological Institute. She is going to tell us about herself, what her organization contributes to the community, and what she enjoys most about it. Please take a moment to read more about Elizabeth.

My name is Elizabeth Moreno and I’m a Certified Recreation Specialist. I work at Barrow Neurological Institute as a Rehabilitation Program Coordinator overseeing the Therapeutic Recreation and Adventures program in the outpatient center. I run adaptive recreation programs for primarily people with brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and stroke survivors. I have worked in the adaptive recreation world for over 25 years and have loved every minute of it!

I’m a proud mother of two teenage boys who play competitive soccer. When I’m not working you can find me at the soccer field watching my sons, hiking, kayaking, camping, traveling, hanging with friends (when there is no social distancing!), playing the piano or dancing and listening to music.
