I felt like it was my year to start putting things in my life in order. It was the first year that I only went to the hospital twice since becoming a paraplegic. I usually go to the hospital at least every other month, so this was a major improvement. I'll be 30 this year and I am the mother of a now ten-year-old 4th grader. I'm starting to finally live my life and enjoy it. I spent the first 8 years of my injury trying to overcome my pain, anger, and depression. I'm always looking for more natural ways to help with my pain. I meditate, workout, eat pretty healthy, and take my vitamins. I was also ready to get my plans into motion. I would like to get married, but refuse to walk down the aisle without my own financial freedom. Especially since all of my health benefits will stop once I'm married anyway.

I just recently started to work in October and it's a feeling I just can't describe. I never thought I would be at this point where I'm working again, where I'm financially stable again, and it just makes me want more. I decided that, that wasn't enough. I didn't want to just work. I wanted to pursue my goals and dreams that I had before my injury. So I took my tests, applied at Grand Canyon University, and before I knew it, I received news in the mail saying that I was accepted at Gran Canyon University into the Bachelor of Science Program in Entrepreneurial Studies and minor in Marketing.

I'm very excited to start school and start my various business endeavors as well. I'm trying to work on opening a nonprofit in the meantime. My dreams are to give back and help the handicapped accessible community so that we're getting the things that we need and that it's accessible to us. Once a year, I go to Camp with a Ramp and go kayaking and hiking on the Mogollon Rim. I'm also a girl scout mom so you may see me out there at the stores at the cookie booth with my girl scout troop. So what's in the cards for me this year? Nothing but love, life and happiness. I hope to see you there as well!
