to be around a complainer. That was excellent advice and I try hard not to complain.

3. Take charge of your care and understand everything that is happening including your medical care. You are in charge of yourself.

4. Ask questions until you are satisfied and understand the answers.

5. Don’t allow people to treat you like you are not in the room. You still have a voice, use it and participate in the conversations, especially when they are about you and your medical care. When you aren’t included, speak up.

My life now, post-injury, is again full. I work, continue making Artwork three times a week with a helper, watch TV, read by listening to Audible-a book reading program, talk on the phone with family, engage in my relationship with my supportive husband, visit with a few close friends, work on physical therapy three times a week and look to the future as a positive and enriching experience.
