Letter from the Executive Director

Message from the Executive Director,

Welcome to the July edition of Wheel World News! It's summertime which means there are many upcoming activities and events going on within the community. Be sure to get involved!

This month, our Spotlight Story is about our Fresh Start Backpack Program. Visit pages 3-4 to read about the program and how you or your organization can get involved. The Arizona Spinal Cord Injury Association takes pride in being able to provide newly injured SCI patients with the resources needed to enhance and live their new life to the fullest.

If you are wanting to become more involved this month in the SCI community, there are plenty of summertime events happening this month that could help you with that. Read about all the upcoming events happening this July, including Barrow Neurological Institute Adaptive Climbing, Kayaking, and Paddle Boarding and the Independent Living Skills Classes at Ability360 in the Current Events section on pages 5-6. For this month’s “Consumer Corner” segment, we are highlighting Domonic Corradin. Read his personal and inspiring story on pages 7-9.

Also, be sure to check out our featured professional of the month in the "Professional Profile" segment on pages 11-13 where we interviewed the Executive Director of Rehab Without Walls, Alison Belkin.

Our newsletter is for you, our community. We would love to hear how you think we could improve, change, or add to our newsletter. We are interested in anything you would like to share or comment on so please do not hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected].

As always, thank you to everyone who supports the Association throughout the year, we truly appreciate each and every one of you! We hope to see you out in the community this month! I hope everyone has a relaxing and fun 4th of July.
