because, in order to be out and about living a productive life, this is the most crucial component to understand and have under control. Another challenge was, and always will be, for anyone who can't afford their own vehicle for transportation. I struggled for years in this area because without my own van, I was limited to the adventures (and greater quality of life ) to be able to get up and go as I pleased. Getting out of the house helped me in so many areas from fighting depression to being more accountable and on time!

I have one suggestion to anyone with a spinal cord injury, don't throw in the towel on life! You can still live a full life after an injury. I have 28 years of experience! I have graduated from high school and college and have also traveled all over, even other countries. I still play sports, work, sit on boards for several organizations and LOVE volunteering! I recommend to anyone with a spinal cord injury in a situation like mine to find things you are passionate about and focus on them. Stay less focused on what you can't do and realize you can still do anything you want but just a little differently! My funniest times since my spinal cord injury have been attending events where there are people who understand the ups and downs of living with challenges. Events like "Camp with a Ramp" and "Push Forward" Conference" or any of the support networks like Arizona Spinal Cord Injury Association and Ability 360. Last but not least, do something to help others; it's healing, rehabilitating, & therapeutic!
