to their home, use of para transit transportation or dependent upon others, independence is absent. I wanted to have an impact in our community and the best way I knew how to do that was to elevate my patients’ level of independence in their community. Although I was clueless on how to run a business, I was motivated to move into a specialty area of my profession to develop the programs Driving to Independence provides in our community as well as others. This level of independence is needed in many locations and we strive to help where we can.

This desire to encourage a high level of community independence led me to a leadership

to a leadership role at the national level for our professional organization. The Association of Driver Rehabilitation Specialists (ADED) is an industry leader in the field of driver rehabilitation. After leading the Education Committee as a chairperson, I was elected to the ADED Board of Directors for a 3-year presidential term beginning as President elect in 2014. I was so motivated by this amazing organization and its membership, I decided to run for another term as president which will conclude in late 2019 as Past President. Part of my desire to become involved in this organization at a high level was to expand the services provided by occupational therapists and certified driver rehabilitation specialists across north America. This organization is dedicated to promoting what I value most in my profession.

I am a traveler. I love to explore and push my level of comfort outside of what is familiar to

I personal curiosity pushes me to learn phrases in new languages, use local currency, drive in foreign countries use public transportation where possible, eat in out of the way places and learn local customs and norms. I love to SCUBA dive and explore reefs. Being underwater is peaceful and quieter than I would expect, only my breathes can be heard. I would encourage everyone to prioritize travel to explore our state as well as unknown and far off locations. I am a family member. My family keeps me busy and I love it! Whether the 2 legged or 4 legged members, we love to spend time together for dinner on the weekends, hiking and dog parks with each other, baseball games together or exploring new camping locations we are often not home! I am a runner. Running is where I do my best thinking,
