Bennett said, “Always believe in yourself and always stretch yourself beyond your limits. Your life is worth a lot more than you think because you are capable of accomplishing more than you know. You have more potential than you think, but you will never know your full potential unless you keep challenging yourself and pushing beyond your own self-imposed limits.” I was determined to not let the injury keep me away from away from the activities I enjoyed prior to the accident. I’m only 34, I’ve got a lot left ahead.

The best advice I can give to newly injured people is to get out and participate in as much as you can. It’s easy to see how much a person has lost, hard to see what there is to gain. Before my injury I was only into mountain biking. Really, because I didn’t have time for much else. But now, I enjoy: mountain biking, kayaking, skydiving, shooting at the range with The Next Step peer group and activities hosted by the Arizona Spinal Cord Injury Association. Once you see that there are others in the same situation that are flourishing, thriving, you will be empowered to do the same. Roy T.
