I was 19 years old when I was paralyzed in a car accident on Friday, March 5, 2004, while returning home from morning classes during my sophomore year of college. I was riding in the front passenger seat when a mechanical issue caused my friend to lose control of his car and spin out of control off the 101 freeway in Scottsdale.
