Sam Willoughby's Story

On Friday, June 22nd, 2018, AZSCIA took our Living Healthy with SCI educational series on the road to visit the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art for an exclusive private tour of the entire museum. We got the opportunity to learn about the different art displays and also got to experience the "Infinity Room." We are planing on visiting again in the fall so don't miss out on this unique experience!

Sam Willoughby is an Australian BMX cyclist and competed in the men's BMX at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Four years later, a training crash in late 2016 left him a tetraplegic. He broke his neck when he flipped off his bike at his regular training track and was left paralyzed from the chest down. With discipline and rehabilitation, Sam is gaining his independence back and even coaches his wife in BMX.

Be sure to take a few minutes to read his empowering story. Click here to read the article.
