Message from the Executive Director,

Welcome to the October edition of Wheel World News. We have a wide range of Fall activities in the upcoming weeks, check them out on the following pages!

It’s finally that time of year again! Join us up north in Cottonwood for our annual Wheeling in Nature event on October 21st. The day will be packed with outdoor activities including kayaking, fishing, and food. Read more and register on page 2. Another outdoor activity you won’t want to miss is the Lets Play Ball Adaptive Baseball Game on October 14th, where AZSCIA will take on WMF. Read more about the game and register to play on page 3. For a full description of all of our October events, including our second Bingo Night and the new Kingman support group check out pages 4-7. If you or anyone you know is in need of a wheelchair, please see page 8 for current chairs for sale. There will be a total of three Living Healthy with SCI classes this month. Visit pages 10-13 to read about all of the upcoming classes and to sign up for them. On page 19 you’ll find information about the Rehab Without Walls Famers Market and upcoming 2018 dates for Don’t Be A Victim Self Defense classes that you’ll want to put on your calendar. In a new segment called “Meet the Board,” we will be choosing a new board member to highlight each month. This month we highlighted Don Price, the President of our board. You can read about Don and why he volunteers to serve on AZSCIA’s board of directors on pages 24-25. We hope you enjoy the October edition of Wheel World News!

We strive to help the SCI community as best as possible. Please feel free to leave us any comments on how we could improve. As always, it is a pleasure serving this community!

Sincerely,

Shannon L. Carter
