THE VIEW Etikans Say It has been two years since Asahi acquired Etika. We asked our Etikans what some of their highlights have been over the past two years, and what they loved and enjoyed being with Etika. On a lighter note, we also asked what are some of the personal items they have on their work desk, or the two things that people do not know about them. What I love about my job is the fact that everyone shares the same vision and is dedicated to achieve our mission. This creates a family environment where everybody is there for each other. Two things that most people don’t know; I have a pair of twins aged 3 years old. I started my career in Etika Fresh Milk as a contract employee in December 2015. In April 2016, I was offered a permanent position. The great culture and environment, coupled with great mentors and teammates –these have made working here so much more fulfilling. Might be premature for me to say this as I have not been in many companies, but I have always been in awe of how there’s such a balance in the department. Although everyone strives to better themselves and perform, they are still willing to offer a hand when you need one. Another area of my job that I enjoy is problem solving. I have always enjoyed solving puzzles as that drives me to discover new solutions. There are two things about me that most people don’t know; I am from Sabah and I went to a Chinese school from kindergarten till Standard Six. Although I understand spoken Chinese, there is room to further improve my Chinese writing skills. As I learned the art of an exceptional haircut when I was in high school, my friends would ask me to do their haircut though I would never be able to do my own. I have always believed that real learning often comes from the work we do when we have an opportunity to reflect upon what we have seen and experienced. My lifelong learning has been inspired by Confucius who famously said: “Tell me, and I will forget. Show me, and I may remember. Involve me, and I will understand.” Two things about me that most people don’t know; I am adept at preparing Western dishes and I like making soups. My parents are hawkers, so cooking is never an issue for me. I enjoy making DIY lights and lamps using recycled items for home decoration. Jensen Lee Senior Finance Assistant, Etika Pte Ltd Singapore
