Art and Culture GERMANY Long Night of the Opened Monument By Marcel In this year there was the 11th “Lange Nacht des offenen Denkmals” ( in english similar to “long night of the opened monument”) in Stralsund. At the 7th september 2013 all the museums, churches, town hall and old houses are opened. It is mainly free, you can go there and watch the art and culture of Stralsund. You can find many places with special events like concerts, performances, presentations and tours through Stralsund. in this “Grimm-year” the motto was “tales,myths and legends”. There are many places to develope near the marketplaces and the harbour. The events are inspired by the motto of this year. The grand opening was in front of the town hall by the major. After that for example you could visit the ” Meeremuseum” ( in english “Seamuseum”) and do some creative arts there, especially for kids. In the planning departement there was a big fireshow by “Manu and Diana”. They showed artistic acts and fireart. The show was accompaninent by mystical music by “Nightwish”. After midnight all visitors are invited to come togheter and remember the last hours. You can ask questions about tales and if your are lucky you could win nice prizes.
