the Christmas play. It is an annual recurring theater about Jesus, Maria and Josef. The nonbelievers will probably not go to church, but some people do it anyway just because it is a tradition. At 3 o’clock pm: At this point of the day comes a typical Swedish tradition! Now will almost everybody watch the show about Walt Disney´s Donald Duck on the television. This might sound weird but over 3.5 million people in Sweden watched the show in 2011. This is a tradition since 1959. Dinner time: During Christmas Eve we eat a lot. We have this typical Swedish “Christmas smorgasbord”. In Swedish it is called julbord which means “Christmas table”. It consists of meatballs, different types of sausage, Christmas ham, omelets, potatoes, herrings and a lot of weird stuff which the oldies likes. There is a lot of food and most of it is delicious. In the evening: Now it is time to open the Christmas gifts. People go crazy during this Christmas season, we buy so much things to each other! It is a mess to be honest. But then of course it is fun to open your presents. If you have children in your family you will probably have hired a “Santa Claus” to hand out all the Christmas gifts.
