SKANSEN
If you ever go to Sweden or more specific
Stockholm, Skansen is worth a visit.
Skansen is an open-air museum and a
zoo with a lot of different animals and fun
activities. It’s located on Djurgården in
Stockholm, just next to the fair Gröna
Lund.
Skansen was founded by a man called
Artur Hazelius 1891. He wanted to show
how people lived in Sweden a long time
ago, and you can surely say that he
succeeded. The open-air museum
consists of a lot of old buildings from all
over the country. For example, whole
farmhouses and churches have been
moved to Skansen.
Today there are most Nordic wild animals
at the zoo like bear, wolf, lynx, seal,
moose and wolverine but also a few
exotic species like monkeys and different
birds. There is also a stable with many
different horses that kids can ride if they
want.
Allsång på Skansen
Every summer there is a sing-along show
on Skansen. In Swedish it’s called Allsång
på Skansen. It’s a live show that is shown
on Swedish television every Tuesday
during about eight weeks. Every week
there is new famous artists there,
performing and singing with the crowd.
Some of the artists that have performed
a r e G y l l e n e T i d e r, Z a r a L a r s s o n ,
Passenger and Robin Stjernberg, who
represented Sweden in Eurovision Song
Contest 2013. One night this summer
there was a crowd record. 26 000 people
came to sing along with the artists and
the host Måns Zelmerlöw.
Måns has been the host during three
summers but this was his last. He is a
very loved artist and person by the
swedes. He is often called the “perfect
son-in-law”
