The side that first gets a chance to place
the jack is given the opportunity to bowl
first. The side that doesn’t have the ball
closest to the pallino has a chance to
bowl up until one side or the other has
used their four balls. At that point, the
other side bowls its remaining balls. The
team with the closest ball to the jack is
the only team that can score points. The
scoring team receives one point for each
of their balls that are closer to the jack
than the closest ball of the other team.
To sum up, the point is to throw the ball
that is the closest to the jack.
Twelve national teams participated:
B u l g a r i a , F r a n c e , S p a i n , I t a l y,
Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia,
Switzerland, Russia, Turkey and Croatia.
Our team showed great skill and talent.
They won a medal in each discipline.
I really enjoyed being part of this event. I
met lots of new people and learned
something about this old, traditional
sport.
European Championship in Bocce for
Women in Komiža
Now, when you know almost everything
about bocce, I’m going to say something
about competition held in my town.
It lasted five days (1.10.-5.10.). This was
the first time that some big “bocce”
championship was held on some of our
islands, so we are very proud to be the
first.
I hope I taught you something new and
interesting.
