My School SWEDEN Our thoughts about high school by Johanna and Victoria We are now going to tell you about our wonderful high school Agneberg, here in Uddevalla, Sweden. The origin of the school is looking back to the 1600′s local h i s t o r y, w h e n i t o n l y w a s s m a l l treehouses. Today on the other hand, Agneberg is one of the biggest schools in this area, with two buildings, five floors, and over 1000 students. It’s a certainly well-equipped high school, we have for example a big dining room where we get our meal for free, a dining room for the teaches, our own restaurant called “Gesällen” where you can buy food that other students have made, a cafeteria where you can buy pastries, cakes, sandwiches, soft drinks and smoothies or just hang out on breaks. We do also have a library, a huge sports hall (where a lot of sport events and even some smaller concerts are taking place), where we also have a gym and a room where you can practice dancing. Furthermore we have a lot of regular classrooms, some kitchen, laboratory rooms and a room where you can charge your computer or listen to music. We do also have a nurse, a counselor and a study- and careeradviser. The school has seven main programs; the child- and recreation program, the economy program, the business- and a d m i n i s t ra t i o n p r o g ra m , t h e h o t e l management- and tourism program, the restaurant- and nutrients program, the social science program (which we are studying), and SPINT- the English and internationalization program. Every program has also different orientations that you are able to choose between when you are studying your second year. All in all it’s one of the best schools in this area at least according to us. Now: some thoughts about our school class. We think that our class is quite good, we are about 25 pupils, both boys and girls, and we have been a class since 2011 when we all started high school. We will now do our very best to make you understand how our classes works and what we actually are learning in school. Okay, so the designation of our class is “the social science program”. In Sweden we have the ability to choose which program we want to study. Does it work the same way for you? In Sweden we can choose between varieties of different programs with different directions: natural science, engineering science, social science, health and social care, tourism, restaurant and so on. As we mentioned above, our class is a social science class, which basically means that we learn a lot about the society (how the government works) and why humans behave the way they do (behavioral science). Those are our main
